What Is Mazda i-Activsense? Everything You Need to Know in Bloomington, IN
Here at Royal South Mazda, we know that all of our valued customers prioritize safety whenever they hit the road. All modern Mazda vehicles are equipped with a generous suite of driver's assistive features that will give you peace of mind throughout your daily travels. Read on to learn more about your model’s safety features!
What Is i-Activsense?
i-Activsense1 is an umbrella term that covers many different active and passive safety technologies found on Mazda models. Rather than reacting to crashes after they happen, the system is designed to anticipate and prevent dangerous situations from occurring as you travel throughout Bloomington. Active safety features are ones that are designed to help prevent an accident from happening in the first place. Other inclusions found within i-Activsense1 are sensors like milliwave radar, visible wavelength cameras, near-infrared lasers, and quasi-milliwave radar in the rear. This combination of sensor types allows the system to monitor the vehicle's environment from multiple angles simultaneously, which is something no driver can do alone.
Key Features and How They Work
Smart Brake Support (Automatic Emergency Braking)2 provides automatic braking that helps reduce the severity of front-end collisions by applying the brakes if a vehicle or object is detected ahead. Smart City Brake Support works alongside it for city driving at low speeds, automatically applying the brakes to avoid or mitigate the impact of a head-on collision.
Blind Spot Monitoring3 helps detect vehicles in your blind spots and provides visual alerts when you're cruising down roads like I-69. If you signal a lane change while a vehicle is in a blind spot, an additional audible alert activates.
Lane Departure Warning and Lane-Keep Assist4 provides alerts and momentary steering assistance to help avoid roadway departures. A related system also provides steering input when changing lanes and drifting toward oncoming traffic.
Mazda Radar Cruise Control5 uses forward-facing radar to maintain a set following distance from the vehicle ahead, automatically adjusting speed in traffic without requiring driver input.
Vehicle Exit Warning alerts occupants to approaching traffic or cyclists before they open a door, which can be a particularly useful feature when you’re exiting a parallel parking space on the Indiana University Bloomington campus.
Traffic Sign Recognition6 helps drivers stay aware of posted speed limits and other road signs, reducing the chance of inadvertent violations.

I highly recommend them.
Each time was an enjoyable experience.
“ I didn't buy my car here but sent it for regular maintenance a few times. Each time was an enjoyable experience. They were always friendly and never tried to sell me stuff I didn't need. I was sad when I got a new car and had to find another dealership for services! ”
We have had a very good experience with this dealership.
“ We have had a very good experience with this dealership. They were very upfront with their pricing. They had the suv that we were looking for in stock. They are not pushy but very knowledgeable about their businesses. Overall a very good dealership. ”
Service was the best I have had since having a car in the last 35 years.
“ Service was the best I have had since having a car in the last 35 years. I did not have an appointment and they got me in for service. Everyone from the Service writer to the service tech was professional and nice to work with. Price for my oil change and inspection was very competitive and worth the 5-star service I recieved. They also sent me a Video of the service so I could see what was completed...Just top tier in my book. I will continue to go there with my MX-5 until it's dying day. ”
Everyone is very nice, helpful, and understanding from a phone call all the way to leaving the lot.
“ Everyone is very nice, helpful, and understanding from a phone call all the way to leaving the lot. I brought car in for an inspection, I LOVED the explanation video that was sent to me of the inspection. Not only did it make me feel a little more a part of the process, it gave me an excellent run down of everything that needed done and an accessible means of sharing with those who understand cars better than I do. Thank you very much! ”

10. The TJA is not an automated driving system. In addition, the functions have limitations. Do not rely completely on the system and always stay on course using the steering wheel. Set a vehicle speed within the speed limit according to the road conditions and the weather conditions. The TJA may not be able to detect a vehicle ahead depending on the type of vehicle ahead and its conditions, the weather conditions, and the road conditions. Additionally, the system might be unable to decelerate sufficiently if a vehicle ahead applies the brakes suddenly, another vehicle cuts into the driving lane, or the difference in vehicle speed between your vehicle and the vehicle ahead is larger, which could result in an accident. Check the surrounding conditions and always drive carefully while keeping a safe distance from vehicles ahead and on-coming vehicles.

“ Service department is great! Easy to make an appointment and they have always been ready for me at my appointment time. They have been respectful of my time and very thorough in their services. For even a basic service they do a nicely comprehensive check on the car and send you a video of, all the things they checked it’s very cool. I highly recommend them. ”
