Which 2020 Mazda models come with i-ACTIV® AWD?
Those of us native to Indiana or really anywhere in the Midwest can attest that winters can get pretty brutal. Not only is the cold weather a drag, but the roads can get quite slick. When the roads are covered with ice or snow, it helps to have some help with performance. That’s where the Mazda i-ACTIV® AWD feature comes in to play. If you want this all-wheel drive feature, though, you’ll need to choose a 2020 Mazda model that has it.

2020 Mazdas with all-wheel drive
The biggest addition to the 2020 Mazda lineup was the CX-30, which is a subcompact SUV that fits between the CX-3 and the CX-5. One of the many features available in the CX-30 is i-ACTIV® AWD. This feature is also available in the CX-5 and CX-9. While the CX-3 has not been released for the 2020 model year yet, we fully anticipate seeing i-ACTIV® AWD on select trim levels. The Mazda3, Mazda6, and MX-5 Miata will not have an all-wheel drive option for 2020.

Benefits of i-ACTIV® AWD
Like any all-wheel drivetrain system, i-ACTIV® AWD will give you enhanced traction and stability in poor road conditions where two-wheel drivetrain systems sometimes fall short. However, unlike other all-wheel drivetrain systems, the i-ACTIV® AWD system can predict road conditions and turn the feature on and off automatically as needed. It can even shift the power from front to back, depending which set of wheels need the power the most. This can also help preserve fuel efficiency, since AWD vehicles typically get less fuel efficiency than front or rear-wheel drive and you won’t usually need all-wheel drive in mild weather on flat, paved roads.
Come see for yourself how the i-ACTIV® AWD system works by test driving one of our 2020 models here at Royal South Mazda. We look forward to seeing you!
