2018 Mazda CX-5 release date
The recently refreshed 2017 Mazda CX-5 was only on the market for 9 months. Most auto manufacturers would probably rest on their accomplishments, and keep most things the same for the 2018 model year, but Mazda is not like most auto manufacturers. You can expect big changes for the new model year and we have your full rundown along with a 2018 Mazda CX-5 release date.
Upgrades to the Mazda CX-5 Sport trim
The base model Sport trim is raising the bar in the 2018 Mazda CX-5. For the new model year, this trim will add a host of standard features including blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert, along with a leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob.
Upgrades to the Mazda CX-5 Touring trim
The Touring trim is seeing its own improvements for 2018. For starters, the interior is getting an upgrade with standard leatherette seating, and the exterior is getting beautiful 19-inch rims to match. For ease of access, the Mazda CX-5 Touring is also adding advanced keyless entry!

Arguably the biggest improvement comes with the addition of the now standard i-ACTIVSENSE suite of safety features. This suite adds high-beam control, lane-keep assist, radar cruise control, lane departure warning, rain sensing windshield wipers, and auto on/off headlights. This suite is also an available option on the Sport trim.
Mazda CX-5 engine changes for 2018
For 2018, the Mazda CX-5 is getting the same great engine with some major improvements. You’ll still get the same impressive performance with 187 horsepower and 185 pound-feet of torque, but the real improvements should come in the fuel efficiency department.

Mazda made several small improvements to its engine, primarily to reduce engine friction, but they also added a segment-exclusive feature aimed at saving you money. For 2018, the Mazda CX-5 will have cylinder deactivation.
You may have heard of this technology from other manufacturers, but this is the first time that a four-cylinder engine will have cylinder deactivation in North America. EPA numbers have yet to be released, but you can expect the biggest change to occur on the highway.
When will the 2018 Mazda CX-5 be available?
If these are all features that you want in your next crossover, then buckle-up, because the 2018 Mazda CX-5 will be available in December of 2017. That means you will not have to wait long at all!
