Both the 2019 Mazda CX-9 and the 2019 Toyota Highlander offer All-Wheel Drive (AWD). However, the Highlander only offers AWD with an engine upgrade while the turbocharged engine of the CX-9 can be equipped with AWD at every trim level. The engine upgrade for the 2019 Highlander does deliver more horsepower and torque than the standard engine of the 2019 Mazda CX-9 but the CX-9 still provides superior fuel economy ratings.
