Release date for the 2020 Mazda CX-5
It seems like not so long ago we were praising the newest 2019 Mazda CX-5 for its new engine option and interior upgrades. As is usually the case with automakers, the 2019 Mazda will soon start to be a thing of the past as Mazda begins working on the 2020 model. We’re expecting a few fresh upgrades to the compact SUV, and you can expect it to be rolling out soon. Read on to learn the release date of the 2020 Mazda CX-5!
2019 showed us that Mazda is ready to compete with the best of the best, offering 2.5L 4-cylinder engine with capabilities that include 250 horsepower and 310 lb-ft of torque. For the 2020 model year, Mazda is expected to add the much-anticipated diesel engine into the mix as a third option. Already available in Europe, the 2.2L SKYACTIV-D® turbo diesel 4-cylinder engine produces 168 horsepower and 290 lb-ft of torque. The benefits from this new diesel engine include cleaner fuel emissions and better fuel economy than the current 31 highway mpg in the more fuel efficient of the two current engines.
As far as other changes and updates, we’re not entirely sure yet what will be included in the 2020 CX-5. Current highlights like low-speed automatic emergency braking and Rear Cross-Traffic Alert helped the 2019 CX-5 achieve an IIHS Top Safety Pick+, which is the highest safety designation a vehicle can get, and we’re expecting that to carry over to 2020. We’ll find out more about the newest CX-5 as we get closer to the production date.
