Performance in the 2019 Mazda CX-5 Signature Diesel Engine
Mazda lovers always have a lot to love, and now they have one more thing to celebrate. It was announced awhile back that Mazda would be adding diesel engines to their lineup, but drivers were uncertain when to expect Mazda to deliver on this promise. It’s finally here. Mazda featured the new 2019 CX-5 Signature trim with a diesel engine option at the 2019 New York International Auto Show. Check out the specs and features below!
So why do drivers like the diesel engines to begin with? While diesel fuel prices can be higher than conventional gasoline, diesel engines have a few advantages like better fuel efficiency and greater torque because of its slower burn rate and higher compression rate. Additionally, diesel engines requires less maintenance which can both extend the life of your vehicle and, of course, save you more money.
2019 CX-5 Signature Diesel Powertrain
Mazda continues to expand their selection with the release of the diesel engine option in the 2019 CX-5. Available in the top Signature trim level, the Skyactiv®-D 2.2L engine comes with 168 horsepower and 290 lb-ft of torque while still achieving an impressive 27 city/30 hwy mpg. Paired with the engine is the same six-speed automatic transmission found in the other CX-5 models as well as all-wheel drive. It’s a win-win for diesel engine fans as the Signature trim already has some hot features like ambient interior lighting, Caturra Brown Nappa leather seating, Genuine Layered wood trim, and a Bose® 10-speaker audio sound system just to name a few.
The announcement for the CX-5 diesel engine release is exciting amidst the hype surrounding the new CX-30 SUV. To learn more about the 2019 CX-5 diesel engine, get in touch with the team here at Royal South Mazda or schedule a test drive on our website today!
