2020 Mazda CX-5 performance specs and features
The Mazda CX-5 continues to be the top-selling model from Mazda, and that shouldn’t come as a surprise. The compact SUV market is really hot right now, as drivers continue to seek out options that maximize utility, performance, and innovative technology. The 2020 Mazda CX-5 has all of those. Below, you’ll see some of the performance specs and features in this compact SUV. Find out if this is the right choice for you!
Some things are just too good to change, which is why Mazda continued with the SKYACTIV®-G 2.5L 4-cylinder engine for 2020. In the base model, the same engine returns and grinds out a respectable 187 horsepower and 186 lb-ft of torque. For drivers who want a bigger boost under the hood, the Grand Touring Reserve and Signature trims should suffice. They have a SKYACTIV®-G 2.5L 4-cylinder turbocharged engine, which gets a whopping 250 horsepower and 320 lb-ft of torque (the torque has been upgraded from 310 lb-ft in the 2019 model). Both engine options come with a seamless 6-speed automatic transmission as well.
One interesting option for the 2020 CX-5 is the i-ACTIV AWD® drivetrain. Unlike other all-wheel drive systems, this one can sense the road conditions and will automatically switch back and forth between all-wheel drive and two-wheel drive as needed, allowing for greater fuel efficiency than the conventional all-wheel drive systems. Another excellent performance feature is SKYACTIV®-VEHICLE DYNAMICS with G-Vectoring Control. This system offers drivers a smoother, less fatiguing ride. The system works by shifting weight ever so slightly around curves and bumps to reduce the impact they have on you.
